Bar codes are classified into five grades: A, B, C, D, and F. Grade A is the highest level, and some bar codes used for export are required to reach Grade A, mainly to ensure the scanning recognition rate of bar codes.

Grade A bar codes can be read well and are suitable for scanning only along A line and only once. The range of grade is 3.5≤G≤4.0.

Grade B bar code is not as good as Grade A in reading. It is suitable for scanning along only one line but allows repeated scanning. Its grade range is 2.5≤G < 3.5.

C-level bar codes may require repeated scanning for many times. Usually, equipment that can repeat scanning and have multiple scan lines can be used to obtain better reading effect. The range of grade is 1.5≤G < 2.5.

Grade D bar codes may not be readable by some devices. To obtain good reading effect, devices that can repeat scanning and have multiple scan lines should be used. The range of grade is 0.5≤G < 1.5.

Grade F bar code is unqualified and cannot be used. Its grade range is G < 0.5.
