Types of bar codes

In order to meet the needs of automatic management in different fields, scientists in the world have developed and are using more than 250 kinds of bar codes, among which there are more than 100 types of commonly used bar codes. According to the coding structure and nature of bar codes, the classification methods of bar codes mainly include the following categories.

1) According to the length of barcode, it can be divided into fixed length barcode and non-fixed length barcode. -- It is simply understood that some barcodes have fixed data length, and some barcodes have unfixed data length; The fixed barcode data can only be fixed numbers, one more data or one less barcode number, barcode will not be displayed normally.

2) According to the arrangement of bar codes, it can be divided into continuous bar codes (bar codes without bar code character intervals) and non-continuous bar codes. (Bar code with bar code character interval).

3) According to the verification mode, it is divided into self-verification bar code and non-self-verification bar code. Check code types (such as EAN-13/EAN-8, UPC-A/UPC-E, etc.) are automatically generated by the software and do not need to be calculated separately.

4) According to the coding method of composing barcode, it can be divided into modular coding method barcode and width adjustment coding method barcode.

5) According to the reading mode of barcode, it can be divided into one-way barcode and two-way barcode.

6) According to the way of carrying information, it can be divided into one-dimensional barcode and two-dimensional barcode.

7) One-dimensional bar codes can be divided into commodity bar codes and non-commodity bar codes according to the application objects.
