Universal product code (UPC code) is A commodity barcode mainly used in the United States and Canada. It includes UPC-A code, UPC-B code, UPC-C code, UPC-D code, and UPC-E code.

Differences between UPC-A and UPC-E codes are as follows:

Universal product code (UPC code) is A commodity barcode mainly used in the United States and Canada. It includes UPC-A code, UPC-B code, UPC-C code, UPC-D code, and UPC-E code. The UPC-E code is A shortened version of the UPC-A code, just like the EAN-13 product barcode and EAN-8 product shortening code.

Upc-a and UPC-E codes have different data lengths:

Under certain conditions, UPC-A codes can be expressed as shortened UPC-E codes. Both UPC-A codes and UPC-E codes support 0-9 digits in character sets. The difference is that the data length of UPC-A codes is 12 digits and that of UPC-E codes is 8 digits.

Upc-a codes and UPC-E codes are different symbols:

The minimum width of the blank area on the left and right of the UPC-A code is 9 modules wide. The symbols from left to right are the start character, left data character, middle separator, right data character, verification character, and termination character. The minimum width of the left blank area of UPC-E is the same as that of the left blank area of UPC-A. The minimum width of the right blank area is 9 modules, and the minimum width of the right blank area is 7 modules. Without the middle separator, the symbols from left to right are the start character, data character, parity character, and termination character

Upc-a and UPC-E codes are used differently:

Upc-a Commodity bar code is used for general commodities and is the most widely applicable UPC code. The UPC-E code is also used for general merchandise, except that the UPC-E is specifically designed for smaller products.
