Comparison of two-dimensional code and one-dimensional barcode

One-dimensional bar codes can be error validated by valid characters, but one-dimensional bar codes have no error correction ability.

 

1. Both two-dimensional code and one-dimensional bar code are means of information representation, carrying and reading, but one-dimensional bar code is the identification of "articles", while two-dimensional bar code is the description of "articles".

2. Information density and information capacity

One-dimensional barcode has low information density and small information capacity. The two-dimensional code is characterized by high information density, large information capacity, high security, high reading rate, and strong error correction ability.

3. Error verification and error correction ability

One-dimensional bar codes can be error validated by valid characters, but one-dimensional bar codes have no error correction ability. Two-dimensional code is with the ability to correct the error, according to the need to set different levels of error correction.

4. Reliance on databases and communication networks

Most applications of 1D barcode depend on database and communication network; Qr codes, on the other hand, can be used independently of the data master communication network.

5. Reading equipment

One-dimensional barcode can be read by line scanner, such as light pen, line array CCD, laser gun, etc. Two-dimensional code reading equipment can use the line scanner for the row of two-dimensional barcode scanning code, for matrix two-dimensional barcode can only be read by the image scanner.
