barcode labels are easy to make, there are no special requirements for equipment and materials, identification equipment is easy to operate, requires no special training, and equipment is relatively inexpensive.

Barcode technology has the following advantages:

1, input speed: compared with keyboard input, bar code input speed is 5 times that of keyboard input, and can achieve "instant data input".

2, high reliability: keyboard input data error rate is 1%. The error rate of optical character recognition technology is one in ten thousand, while the error rate of bar code technology is less than one in a million.

3. Large amount of information collection: The traditional one-dimensional barcode can be used to collect dozens of characters at a time. Two-dimensional barcodes can carry information of thousands of characters and have some automatic error correction capability.

4, flexible and practical: bar code identification can not only be used as a means of identification alone, but also can be composed of a system with related identification equipment to achieve automatic identification, but also can be connected with other control equipment to achieve automatic management.

In addition, barcode labels are easy to make, there are no special requirements for equipment and materials, identification equipment is easy to operate, requires no special training, and equipment is relatively inexpensive. The cost is very low. In the retail sector, because the bar code is printed on the packaging of goods, so its cost is almost "zero".

Disadvantages:

1, one-dimensional bar code compared with two-dimensional bar code and electronic label, the most obvious drawback is that the amount of data can be small. Usually, the data capacity of two-dimensional bar code is several times to ten times that of one-dimensional bar code, and the electronic label is even larger.

2. One-dimensional bar codes only express information in one direction (generally horizontal), while they do not express any information in the vertical direction. Their height is usually to facilitate the alignment of readers. The application of one-dimensional bar code can improve the speed of information input, reduce the error rate, can directly display the content of English, numbers, simple symbols.

3, storage data is not much, mainly rely on the computer associated database.

4, the security performance is not high.

5. Poor readability after damage.
