Data Matrix code a simple introduction
The original name of Data Matrix is Data Code. The appearance of Data Matrix 2D barcode is a square or rectangular symbol composed of many small squares, which can be divided into ECC000-140 and ECC200.
ECC200 is a version of the DataMatrix that improves error correction for problematic distortions in the original version. ECC200 ERROR CORRECTION USES THE "INSIDE CODE" THAT CAN RECOVER DATA EVEN IF PART OF THE code IS damaged, WHICH NOT only RESTORES THE DISTORTION ABILITY, BUT ALSO REDUCES THE code SIZE. ECC200 has become an international specification and is used as standard when using DataMatrix. In addition, the DataMatrix (ECC200) types include squares and rectangles.
The size of Data Matrix 2D barcode can be adjusted arbitrarily, the maximum can be 14 square inches, the minimum can be 0.0002 square inches, this size is also the smallest in the current 1D and 2D barcode. On the other hand, the size of most bar codes has an absolute relationship with the amount of Data incorporated, but the size of Data Matrix two-dimensional bar codes is independent of the amount of Data incorporated, so its size is relatively elastic. In addition, Data Matrix two-dimensional bar code also has the following characteristics:
1. The encodable character set includes all ASCII characters and extended ASCII characters, a total of 256 characters.
2. Bar code size (excluding blank area) : 10 x 10 to 144 x 144
3. Data capacity: 2235 text and digital data, 1556 8-bit data, 3116 digital data.
4. Error correction: The error correction code is obtained by generating polynomial calculation through Reed-Solomon algorithm. Different sizes should use different number of error correction codes.
The appearance of a two-dimensional barcode is a square or rectangular symbol composed of many small squares. The information stored in the barcode is a combination of light and dark squares and encoded by binary-code, so the computer can directly read the content of the Data. It does not need the Character look-up Table like the traditional one-dimensional bar code. The dark color represents "1" and the light color represents "0". The light and dark squares formed into strings are used to describe the special character information. These strings are then listed into a completed Matrix code to form a Data Matrix 2D barcode code, which is then printed on the surface of different materials with different printers. Because Data Matrix 2D barcode only requires 20% of the Data to be read, it can be accurately read, so it is very suitable for application in places where the barcode is easily damaged, such as printed on parts exposed to high heat, chemical cleaners, mechanical erosion and other special environments.
